In the 1980s I worked in audit, initially at the Audit Commission. By the early 2000s I was a Finance Director who helped transform the finances of one of the largest district councils in England.
I’m concerned about climate breakdown, and I believe we will only be successful in bringing enough citizens with us in making changes if we ensure everyone has the chance to be part of that energy transition. I also want to see a fairer society and I support economic models that put cooperation at their heart. I’m interested in good design, languages, politics, economics, minimalism, technology, electronic music and much more.
For the last three decades I’ve been involved in making practical changes to a low carbon society. From personal choices – retrofitting our home, to helping create Westmill Wind and Solar co-operatives, to supporting Energy4All and its family of renewable energy projects. In 2017 I joined the board of REScoop and in 2025 I was elected its President.
